The termometer

boss: i have put up the digital termometer on the office notice board, in case you are wondering why it's cold in the office.
employee: ...

友情 . 季节

like seasons in a year, faded friendships will always come around.
just try to let go when friends drift away, and learn to cherish when they drift back to you ...

Roof

it rained. it dripped. i climbed. into the ceiling. like a monkey. around the frames. arms and legs wrapping them. need a good grip. need a good step. and there it was ... water dripping from the roof, through the torn aluminium sheet, onto the plaster ceiling, boring a hole.

thought of fixing something inside the ceiling. but on second thought, not right. not solving the problem. so, i ended up on the roof. replaced the broken tile. and sat there a while. 12 feet off the porch's roof, and another 12 feet off the ground. my immediate problem - open ladder not having a good foot hold. even had one leg on the ladder before it moved. so scary.

after some meddling, i finally got it to lie on the edge of the roof, barely. quickly i came down and after clearing up everything, i figured ...

(i) i really need to get those leaning ladder
(ii) i think i left the broken tile on the roof ... urgh!

Clutch

hydraulic clutch. new term learnt.

what happened? last night after movie, just one or two houses away, my clutch pedal decided to call it a day, and my leg went 'high' stepping on air pedal!

that bad? not bad at all, lucky really. didn't break at the mall, didn't break on the highway, didn't break even when going uphill to my neighbourhood, but broke a few houses away. so, i guess it's a sign that i need some exercise, pushing my car into the porch area, slightly uphill though :

at the end, found a new mechanic around the area. no longer do i need to send my car to town. also, insurance that has free tow is GOOD!

Shinjuku Incident

i like to leave the cinema with the feeling that my time was well spent watching a good movie, this is just ... an average movie. yea, it has jacky chan doing drama scenes, but not all of them click. and daniel wu speaking in mandarin also doesn't click with me. and i just feel annoyed the way the scenes change. i feel that the flow is somehow jagged. censorship? perhaps but it went on throughout the whole movie. another thing is this movie is sort of like a documentary on the life of Chinese immigrants to Japan, after the movie, apart from the scenes depicting torture, nothing else actually made an impression. it's really a depressing movie, as a friend's friend said. 2.5 out of 5.

Forgotten (Again)

--- start ---

i can only give my life, and show you all i am, in the breath i breathe
i will promise you my all, and give you all my heart, if it takes some time

let me hold you, let me tell you once again, that our love will last forever
hold me now, never let me go again, and make our love a little better

Chorus:
i love you
love you forever, baby
love you forever, woh
i love you
we are together, baby
you and me

say you hardly know, exactly who i am, so hard to understand
you knew right from the start, the way i felt inside, as if you read my mind

let me hold you, let me tell you once again, that our love will last forever
hold me now, never let me go again, and make our love a little stronger

[Chorus]

remember when you used to hold me,
remember when you used to cry
i know you love me
i know you do
yes i do

[Chorus]

--- end ---

it seems to become a habit for me to forget lyrics. this time, the red ones. quite sure the opening was sung wrongly as well. hopefully everyone enjoyed the rest of it. count is now 2.

The International

watched "The International" recently. notable actor/actresses include Clive Owen and Naomi Watts. don't really know the rest of the cast.

movie is about how a financial institution - a bank, controls the world through arms trading and benefitting from conflicts around the world. this theme of shadow organization having a hand in forming the world we live in should be familiar, as it has been explored in TV shows like Prison Break, X-Files and etc. the story traces how Clive and Naomi's characters try to bring down the bank and how impossible it is because in reality, such organization existed out of man's need and greed. If men do not make war for power or other bad stuffs, then it is possible :)

i like the movie for how the screenplay was written. the way the story was captured, it doesn't use the Hollywood blockbuster method. in short. 3.5 out of 5.

Top 3 reasons why a 'sane' person like me might travel across Penang Bridge to mainland on a Friday evening.

3. It's part of my work (how sad)
2. I miss home (obviously not on the island) or someone (obviously not living on the island)
1. I am an idiot

To get idiots like me stay on the island on a Friday evening/night, give me discounts for movie, dinner and karaoke. Or, give me crazy sales on a Friday night. All I need is a reason to stay on the island longer.

Lizard

Saturday evening

Lizard A: "What's happened?"
Lizard B: "Scalded."
Lizard A: "You ran into them?"
Lizard B: "Yea. But I got away, hid in the washing machine. Was pretty lucky, water barely missed me."
Lizard A: "Lucky you! I think I didn't see C around, probably dead."
Lizard B: "Well, at least they don't squish us."

Sunday night

Guy Monster: "Keep an eye on it! Hey, where's that CD cover?"
Gal Monster: "It's in the toilet"
Baby lizard: "Help! He sees me, he sees me!"
Bam.
Baby lizard: "OMIGOD! Someone, anybody there ... Get me out of this! I am trapped!"
(1 minute later ...)
Guy Monster: "Keep the broom, I just need the cup"
Baby lizard: "Need to climb up this thing, maybe there's a way ..."
Whoosh.
Baby lizard: "Steam?!??!"
Bang. Bang.
Baby lizard: "Stop banging the wall! Can't hold on ... Help ... Aargghhhh ... Hot! Hot! Hot! Need to climb!"
Bang. Bang.
Baby lizard: "Can't stay on the ground, water too hot. Climb!"
Bang. Bang.
Baby lizard: "Help ... help ... hel ... p ..."
(3 minutes later ...)
Guy Monster: "Hey, it's dead. Let me finish the blog and I will clean up later."

Why lay off when you have to rehire later?

My first entry in the midst of recession, my first one. I hope my bosses read this article. If you feel that you might or could be laid (off), you should read it too.

Again, V.I.P. (very interesting point) - Why lay off when you have to rehire later?
